Cummins notes that some ISL kits include two different oil pan gaskets due to varying configurations.
The ESN remains the most important check,
because the same engine model can be fitted with different
parts depending on the year of manufacture or the CPL.
It is installed between the connecting rod head and the crankshaft connecting rod journal. It creates a lubricated sliding surface that reduces friction and wear and maintains the proper clearance between the connecting rod and the crankshaft. It is used when the crankshaft connecting rod journal has been ground down by 0.020″.
Replacement parts for Cummins C / ISC / QSC / ISL / QSL applications.
Before the sale, it’s a good idea to check the ESN, CPL, and the actual length of the crankshaft.
Some catalogs extend the application to ISC, QSC, ISL, and QSL. Final compatibility must be verified using the ESN and CPL, as the oil pan may vary depending on the configuration and application.
Front Crankshaft Oil Seal Kit Cummins Engine ISL – Engine QSL / QSL 9
The kit is fitted to the front of the crankshaft, at the front gear housing/front cover. Its function is to prevent engine oil from leaking around the crankshaft whilst it is rotating. It typically comprises a technical elastomer seal with a metal reinforcement and a metal support/cover.
Used on the 6C 8.3, 6CT 8.3, 6CTA 8.3, ISC 8.3, QSC 8.3, ISL, QSL / QSL 9 engines.
Always check the ESN and CPL before sale, as there may be variations within the ISC/QSC/ISL/QSL families depending on configuration, year and front gear housing.
