It is an internal nozzle in the lubrication system that sprays engine oil toward the bottom of the piston; it draws oil from the engine block’s lubrication gallery and directs a jet toward the underside of the piston. It is installed inside the cylinder block, in the lower part of the cylinders, facing the underside of the piston. This component is typically made of metallic materials suitable for the oil circuit and the engine’s internal temperatures.

Compatibility varies by engine CPL, ESN, piston configuration, and cylinder block. Verify the engine serial number before ordering. This wording allows you to correctly include QSL, ISL, QSC, and ISC without incorrectly stating that it fits all of these engines. Cummins itself recommends identifying parts by ESN/CPL and piston configuration.

To avoid errors, I recommend verifying at least one of the following: Engine Serial Number (ESN), CPL, Cummins QuickServe catalog, block casting number, engine production year, original cylinder liner dimensions, and the number stamped on the old cylinder liner. In particular, it is important to distinguish the early pre-1991 block from later versions.

The cylinder liner forms the cylindrical surface along which the piston and piston rings slide. It maintains the correct geometry of the cylinder, transfers heat to the engine block, and allows the engine to be rebuilt without having to replace the entire engine block. It is specified as a flanged cylinder liner and is supplied without sealing rings.
Cummins 6C-Series engines are also used in power plants, including the ISC 8.3, QSC 8.3, ISL 8.9 / 9, and QSL 8.9 / 9 models.

This is a standard (STD) engine piston kit used primarily on Cummins ISL/QSL 8.9–9.0 L engines, featuring a two-piece piston. The kit is installed inside the cylinder block, connected to the connecting rod via the piston pin. Its function is to absorb the pressure generated by combustion, transfer the force to the connecting rod and then to the crankshaft, seal the combustion chamber via the piston rings, control oil consumption, and transfer part of the heat from the piston to the cylinder liner and the cooling/lubrication system.
It is always a good idea to check the ESN (Engine Serial Number), CPL, the Cummins QuickServe/OEM catalog, engine model, horsepower/rating, piston type (1-piece vs. 2-piece), the number stamped on the cylinder head, and the dimensional comparison.
Identifies a piston pin retaining ring. It is a small but essential component of the piston-connecting rod assembly and is typically installed in pairs per piston, one on each side of the pin. Its function is to axially secure the piston pin within the piston seats. Spring-steel retaining ring.

It should not be automatically considered interchangeable with all QSL9 pistons.
