Piston Ring Set STD Cummins Engine ISL 8.9 – Engine QSL 8.9 / 9
This is a set of piston rings. They perform three essential functions: they seal the combustion pressure between the piston and the cylinder, control the oil film on the cylinder wall, and help transfer heat from the piston to the cylinder.
Used on Cummins C Series, ISC 8.3, QSC 8.3, ISL, and QSL/QSL9 engines.
For QSL/ISL/ISC/QSC, it’s always a good idea to check the ESN and CPL, because the same engine may use different pistons and ring configurations depending on the version and model year.
It is an internal nozzle in the lubrication system that sprays engine oil toward the bottom of the piston; it draws oil from the engine block’s lubrication gallery and directs a jet toward the underside of the piston. It is installed inside the cylinder block, in the lower part of the cylinders, facing the underside of the piston. This component is typically made of metallic materials suitable for the oil circuit and the engine’s internal temperatures.
Typically used on Cummins 6C 8.3, 6CT 8.3, 6CTA 8.3, ISC 8.3, QSC 8.3, ISL 8.9 / 9, ISL Natural Gas, and QSL 8.9 / 9 engines.
Before placing an order, I always recommend checking the Cummins ESN (Engine Serial Number), CPL, and QuickServe catalog, because the same QSL/ISC/ISL model may use different nozzle variants depending on the year and configuration.
It connects the piston to the connecting rod. It allows the piston and connecting rod to move relative to each other and transfers the combustion force to the connecting rod.
Confirmed applications: Cummins ISC, QSC, ISL, QSL; it is also documented for engines in the 6L/6LT family.
To ensure exact compatibility, I still recommend checking via ESN/CPL, because not all configurations use the same connector.
