Cylinder Liner Kit Cummins Engine 6CTA 8.3 – Engine 6CTAA 8.3
It is installed in the cylinder block and forms the surface against which the piston operates. It provides the piston’s sliding surface, maintains the correct 114 mm bore, transfers heat to the block/cooling system, maintains compression and the correct cylinder geometry, and allows for engine overhaul without having to completely replace the cylinder block. The liner is typically made of high-strength cast iron or a cast iron alloy, properly machined and finished on the inside to withstand wear, pressure, and temperature. The kit consists of a cylinder liner and a cylinder liner seal.
Installed on Cummins C-Series engines such as the 6C 8.3, 6CT 8.3, and CTA 8.3, 6CTAA 8.3; it is also mentioned for the ISC, QSC, ISL, and QSL models, though this has yet to be confirmed.
Always check the ESN (Engine Serial Number), CPL, Cummins QuickServe/OEM catalog, cylinder block number, number stamped on the old liner, flange diameter, liner length, and engine year/configuration. This is particularly important because there are early and late/thick-wall versions of the liner.
