Crankshaft Bare Without Gear Cummins Engine 6CT 8.3
The crankshaft converts the reciprocating motion of the pistons and connecting rods into rotational motion, transferring the torque produced by combustion to the flywheel and transmission. It is mounted longitudinally at the bottom of the engine block, supported by main bearings. The connecting rods are attached to its crankpins. It is made of forged or heat-treated high-strength steel.
Compatible engines: Cummins 6C 8.3 / 6CT 8.3 / 6CTA 8.3.
For other parts, such as QSC, QSL, ISC and ISL, it’s always a good idea to check the ESN and CPL, or the Cummins OEM catalog, because the diameters of the pins, gears, and counterweights, as well as the shaft configuration, may vary between CPLs and generations.
