International’s DT466 inline 6 cylinder turbodiesel is everywhere – literally. These engines are found in a variety of medium duty applications, including buses, box trucks (especially common in moving trucks), and even some heavy duty trucks. The engine’s reputation in the departments of longevity, performance, and reliability is reinforced by more than 25 years of production.

The roots of the original DT466 can be traced back to the late 70’s, when a 466 cubic inch diesel was situated in International Harvester’s S-Series truck platform. The International Navistar variation, introduced in 1984, is more widely discussed and has gained a considerable amount of respect and attention from fleets across the nation. International refers to the engine simply as, “The Legend”, a title that has clearly been earned. The DT466 is produced today by International Navistar under the model designation “MaxxForce DT”.

Navistar DT engine Series consists of 6 mid-range Diesel Engines. So, the horsepower ranges from 130Kw/170hp to 260KW/350hp. DT series engines are part of medium range heavy duty automotive like trucks, school buses, and other buses applications. 

Navistar International previously known as International Harvest company was producing diesel engines mainly for Agricultural and construction equipment.
